Hill Cottage is a magical little flint and brick cottage, tucked away, yet within a 5 minute walk from the Georgian town of Holt, a north Norfolk market town, renowned for its fine shops, galleries, cafés and restaurants…

…it’s the perfect hideaway for a cosy romantic getaway for two – or a therapeutic break. The cottage is tucked away, at the bottom of a no-through road, and it’s ideally secluded with the garden, adjoining onto common land.

This one bedroom detached flint cottage is filled with character and charm, having been imaginatively renovated. Meticulous detail throughout the renovation project transformed Hill Cottage into a unique retreat, to guarantee you a wonderful break. Guest comfort is a priority, so the cottage is furnished to a high standard, making you feel immediately at home, from the moment you walk in.

The sitting room, with beamed ceiling has a wood burning stove for cosy nights in. Curl up on the comfortable sofa with a good book and a glass of wine, or indulge in some TV. On a chilly winter’s evening, the wood burning stove pours out heat, providing a warm retreat from the cold.

The beautifully hand-crafted kitchen overlooks the pretty back garden. It’s well equipped with a dishwasher, fridge, electric oven and hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and plenty of crockery and utensils.

Holt boasts a very impressive selection of fine dining experiences, all within easy walking distance, but equally, with our well equipped kitchen you might also like to visit the award winning Bakers & Larners Food Hall and prepare your own.

From the kitchen, enter a light and airy room with a rustic cream painted wooden table and chairs. French doors open out onto a terrace which overlooks the back garden. This makes a perfect morning sun trap to eat your freshly made breakfast, whilst listening to the birds singing. Or reflect on your day’s adventures, over drinks and nibbles, whilst enjoying Norfolk’s famous balmy summer evenings.

There’s also a downstairs bathroom with a free standing shower. Should you need to do any essential washing during your stay, a washing machine is provided.

Upstairs, the ensuite bedroom is possibly the star attraction of the cottage. The original vaulted beams are exposed throughout the bedroom, allowing you to fully appreciate the cottage’s history.

The bedroom provides a luxury king size bed, with crisp cotton sheets, duck down duvet and pillows (bed linen supplied). The peaceful surroundings will ensure that not a sound will disturb your night’s sleep, guaranteeing that you’ll leave feeling rested and rejuvenated.

She's now approaching the Castle along the Royal Mile where we sat. I can actually see some of the same flowers on the Hearst as in your photo.

And after a day exploring pretty Norfolk villages, beach walks and tasting what the great country pubs have to offer along North Norfolk’s coastal roads, you might want to take a long soak in the traditional freestanding bath.

Holt

Holt is within easy access to so many attractions of this historic county, from the popular north Norfolk Coast with pretty villages, beach walks and abundant bird life, to the historic stately homes, wonderful gardens and country walks.

Across the road from the cottage, access Spout Hills, a 14 acre green space, rich in wildlife and with a fascinating social history.

Nearby places to visit include Blickling, Felbrigg and Holkham. Bird watchers will enjoy going to the salt marshes between Salthouse and Stiffkey – and at Blakeney Point you can book a boat trip to see the common and grey seals.
