Wickmere, north Norfolk
Wickmere is more like a hamlet than a village. It’s quiet and picturesque with many of its cottages built to provide accommodation for workers on the Wolterton Estate.
This was once the family seat of the Walpoles – specifically Horatio Walpole, younger brother of the famous British Prime Minister, Robert Walpole.
Wickmere is in the heart of ‘Poppyland’ country and it’s 9 miles from the famous Victorian seaside town, Cromer.
From here the whole of north Norfolk is accessible including Sheringham and Blakeney.
Geographically, Wickmere provides easy access to the coastline, the Norfolk Broads and Norwich.
The cottage is very close to the popular National Trust properties of Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall.
Mannington Hall and Gardens is also just down the road.
