Wickmere, north Norfolk
Wickmere is more like a hamlet than a village; it’s quiet and picturesque with many of its cottages built to provide accommodation for workers on the Wolterton Estate.
This was once the family seat of the Walpoles – specifically Horatio Walpole, younger brother of the famous British Prime Minister, Robert Walpole.
Wickmere is in the heart of ‘Poppyland’ country and it’s 9 miles from the famous Victorian seaside town of Cromer.
From here the whole of north Norfolk is accessible including Sheringham and Blakeney.
Mannington Hall and Gardens is also just down the road.
