Everyone loves a traditional town carnival!
Here are the summer carnivals in Norfolk to enjoy:

The Lord Mayor’s Celebration, Norwich (July)

Though not strictly a carnival, The Lord Mayor’s Celebration is a carnival experience for Norwich – a fun filled weekend, jam packed with exciting events all over Norwich, such as street theatre, a fun fair, a street procession and fireworks. Norwich knows how to party so come along and support their annual celebration.

Dereham Carnival (July)

The traditional town carnival returns to Dereham after nearly 20 years.

Organisers promise fun for all the family with lots of exciting events planned. There’s competitions, art work to browse, a dog show, live music and animal shows in the main arena. Support this carnival and help organisers to create an event that will be good fun with funds going straight to the local community.

Sheringham Carnival (August)

Sheringham Carnival is always good fun for all the family, with a week full of festivities such as the street race, sandcastle competitions, a duck race, a talent show and the ‘battle of the bands’. There are many events planned throughout the year.

Wells Carnival (August)

Wells-next-the-Sea’s annual carnival is not to be missed! Each year the Wells Carnival crew carefully plan 6 evenings of live music and 70 different events spread over 9 busy days.

Come along to enjoy a fun run, teddy bear’s picnic, a sandcastle competition, costume making and a raft race. Plus many more exciting activities.

The Wells carnival committee are a ‘not-for-profit organisation’ and much of the work is undertaken by hardworking volunteers who live in the town or close by to make the event a huge success. Please support this traditional summer carnival, for detailed information go to

Cromer Carnival (August)

Cromer Carnival is one of the most eagerly anticipated summer carnivals in Norfolk. There’s lots of free children’s events in the weeks leading up to the carnival which take place on the beach or close to the pier.

The carnival week is  packed with lots of fun activities the whole family will enjoy, including an adults’ fancy dress competition, junior talent competition, a treasure hunt, crabbing competition, a junior fun run (organised by the North Norfolk Beach Runners) and a Jolly Waiters & Waitresses race!
