Banham Zoo

Situated in south Norfolk, just off the A11 near Snetterton, Banham Zoo offers a fantastic day out for everyone.

Animals include tigers, leopards, giraffes, monkeys, zebra, lemurs, wolves, meerkats, kangaroos, scorpions, tarantulas, reptiles, domestic livestock, a variety of different birds – and many more…

There’s a train ride (at no extra cost) which takes you round most of the zoo which is a great way to get familiar with the layout and to see what’s available. It’s also handy for those who are less able with walking. The accompanying guided talk given during the train ride is very informative.

Food and drink is available inside the zoo or you can bring your own picnic. The zoo gift shop offers a good range of quality souvenirs (at reasonable prices).

The SkyTrek experiences, high rope adventure courses, are very popular (and impressive) but unfortunately require an additional fee – but well worth it if your purse can stretch this far. See the promo video further below.

There are often various activities and events happening at the zoo as well as pre-bookable experiences (e.g. Keeper for the Day). Birthday parties and group visits are catered for.

The entrance fee to the zoo is substantial but offers very good value for money – just make sure you get there early in the day and watch out for the weather. Many of the animals are likely to retreat into their private dwellings if the weather isn’t suitable.

Note also that a reduced admission price is available during the winter months.

We visited Banham Zoo in 2015 and thoroughly enjoyed our day out.
