The North Norfolk Railway (the ‘Poppyline’) is a preserved steam railway connecting the towns of Sheringham and Holt, passing through Weybourne Station.
It provides a ‘living history’ – offering an enjoyable and interesting insight into a time when railways flourished.
But the North Norfolk Railway offers far more than just a train ride; experience yesterday tomorrow, with a day out travelling through some of Norfolk’s stunning coastal countryside.
Both steam and diesel trains are operated; see the timetables on their website for dates and times – why not make a day of it with their great value Rover ticket?
There are plenty of other things as well as the train ride, including meals aboard The North Norfolkman (but due to popularity, these usually need to be booked up long in advance), education days and numerous special events throughout the year.
The Forties Weekend in September has become one of the biggest and most popular event in the north Norfolk calendar – not to be missed. But check out the many other events on their website too.
For those travelling to Norfolk by rail, the Bittern Railway Line offers a standard railway trip from Norwich Station to Sheringham. Then, you can just walk across the road to catch the Poppyline.
If you’ve never taken a trip on the Poppyline before, you’re missing out. It should be on everyone’s list of things to do.
