What’s on in 2017
Since Christmas we’ve been working hard to search out the best events that Norfolk has to offer just for you!
Our ‘What’s on’ section is packed full with fun things to do throughout 2017; We have 24 fairs & festivals listed, from laid back tunes at Dereham Blues Festival to bangin’ beats at Sundown Festival (in Norwich) – and everything in between.
Arts and culture
Many festivals are proud to celebrate Norfolk’s creativity and talent. Some festivals celebrate arts and culture from further afield, such as the Norfolk and Norwich Festival with acts from all over the world.
So get ahead of the pack and plan your summer festival fun in Norfolk, the driest county in the UK – surely they’ll be no need to pack your wellies?!?
The vast majority of the events listed here are outdoors – they’re on the coast and in our beautiful countryside. We’ve found events ranging from an early morning walk at the glorious How Hill to the popular Blakeney Regatta which takes place on the quayside at Blakeney.
Snowdrop walks are the very early beginnings of Spring. We have researched as many Snowdrop walks in Norfolk as we could find and we have compiled a comprehensive list in our Discover Norfolk section of our website.
Enjoy a brisk walk along pretty woodland paths and discover the natural beauty of these delicate and angelic flowers. Many locations such as Bagthorpe Hall (near Bircham) and Walsingham Abbey are hosting Snowdrop walks on specific days for local charities.
Go to our Snowdrop walks page and follow the links to their individual website for further information.
Enjoy the great outdoors during 2017 and support events that will show you (or remind you) just how glorious our countryside is.
We have listed 20 charity events including the EAAA Norfolk Polo Festival, the Grand Norwich Duck Race, the Hunny Bell Cross Country Race and for the challenge of a lifetime! Go to King’s Lynn and walk over hot coals for Break charity. No advance preparation is needed for the Fire Walk and full training will be given.
There are many other events that support worthwhile causes, click on the section to see charity events that are close to your heart.
Arts events are very popular and we have an impressive 33 events to search through. Or perhaps a trip to the theatre, an art gallery or art studio is more your kind of thing? We have 24 gigs, shows and concerts listed, all planned for this coming year.
Highlights at the Theatre Royal include ‘Mama Mia’ and the compelling ‘Abigail’s Party’. Plus the enigmatic Ruby Wax comes to the Maddermarket Theatre in Norwich.
Bringing history alive!
Popular historical eras are celebrated and reenacted along the north Norfolk coast, as the towns of Sheringham and Cromer host exciting events all about the 1940s and the 1960s respectively.
Finally, plant lovers will thoroughly enjoy the Bishop’s House Open Days held at the Norwich Cathedral throughout the summer. Each week is dedicated to a local worthwhile cause. It’s a wonderful opportunity to see close up rare and beautiful plants, plus there’ll be plants for sale too.
Adding these events to our What’s on section has inspired us to see and do more this year! We hope that our tantalising collection of events will inspire you too – evenings out with family, friends or on your own.
There’s so much to see and do all year round, so have fun and enjoy all that Norfolk has to offer!
Don’t forget that we’ll be adding new events all the time (as dates and details are confirmed), so please keep coming back to view more great things to see and do during 2017.
